In this podcast, Lesley and Ingrid chat about why prepating your decluttering project is key to success. So many people start a decluttering project without a plan and end up in a terrible mess, completely overwhelmed and losing momentum to finish the job. We talk through the 3 important areas when preparing your decluttering project; preparing your space, your body and your mind.

  • Step 1: Preparing your space - have bin bags at the ready to put your decluttered items in, open the curtains to let light in, open the window for fresh air, do a quick tidy up, get a laundry basket to put in dirty clothes, remove anything you can trip over, get 4-5 boxes ready to put items in that need an action, have your hoover ready for cleaning, stickers and a sharpie for labelling shelves and boxes. 
  • Step 2: Preparing your body - wear comfortable clothes, wear shoes so you don't hurt your feet in case you drop something, tie back your hair in case of long hair and have a bottle of water to stay hydrated. 
  • Step 3: Preparing your mind - decide on your goal, turn of you notifications on your phone so you don't get distracted, think about the emotions involved with decluttering.
